VLCC “Nasha” to Be Overhauled at ISOICO

One of the biggest oil tankers of the world with capacity over 2m barrels of oil entered the dry dock of Iran Shipbuilding and Offshore Industries Complex Company (ISOICO) for overhaul.

According to reports, Nasha VLCC (a very large crude carrier) is a vessel with the size of 332 meters of length, 58 meters of width and 31 meters of height belonging to National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) and it can be loaded with 300,000 tons and it was guided to the dry dock of ISOICO for the overhaul.

Repair of electromotor, input, output and main pipes of the vessel, painting the ship hull and sandblasting are of the major repairs of Nasha which are to be conducted at the ISOICO

The caretaker of the big vessels group of the company said that all required actions for the repair of the VLCC will be based on the domestic technical and scientific capabilities with using home-made equipment.

Ali Azizi noted that 350 people directly and over 1,000 people indirectly will be involved in the process of this overhaul.

He also praised NITC for its trust and handing over the overhaul of the super tanker to ISOICO and reiterated that the cost of overhaul in the company will be 35% less than in its foreign rivals.
