IDRO Eyes Indigenizing Items Worth Over $3b

A member of board of directors of Industrial Development and Renovation Organization of Iran (IDRO) says Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade has set a target for this year to indigenize some imported industrial items worth over 3.2b in order to cut reliance on imports.

Farshad Salehi said that this amount is a part of the ministry’s three-year plan of indigenizing imported items worth $10b, adding that some $3.4 of indigenization was materialized in last Iranian calendar year.
He added that the ministry by using collective wisdom and consultation with all experts is after drawing up plans where the slogan of the year Surge in Production will be the basic approach of the ministry.

Salehi further said in the drawn-up plans for surge in production in the current year, the ministry has used consultations with all related bodies and it is to materialize the target of ten-fold rise in production in the industry in compliance with the Supreme Leader’s remarks.

He also announced the strong determination of the ministry to reduce the process for getting license for production and IDRO is in charge of industry committee in the Expediency Council.
